Isaac, the son of Abraham, had faced significant challenges in his life, including the loss of his mother, Sarah, and a challenging experience where he was nearly sacrificed. Little did he know these trials were setting the stage for a significant change.

Recognizing the importance of this next chapter, his father, Abraham, decided it was time for Isaac to marry. But this was not to be just any marriage; Abraham had specific standards in mind.

Abraham intended to find a wife for Isaac from his own people in Nahor, not from the Canaanites among whom they were living.

Abraham understood that a wife from his own kin would not only share the same beliefs but would also be instrumental in upholding the covenant he had with God.

To ensure the seriousness of this mission, Abraham made his eldest servant swear an oath to find a suitable wife for Isaac from his homeland.
